Delivery of training aids - delivery means

The delivery means normally foreseen are electronic delivery, which is based on the Client Music Synthesis (CMS) or on the Virtual Singer (VS) technologies, or as mp3 files; and post delivery

Electronic delivery using CMS technology requires you to download a CMS executable file (or simply CMS file).  By activating such a file (i.e., by double-clicking on its name or icon), it will automatically create on your PC all the audio files required. Such audio files may be then played directly on the PC (you need a sound card and speakers or headphones). You may also record audio CDs, which can be played with any audio CD equipment (in this case you need CD-burner hardware and software installed on the PC, and some knowledge about using them).

Electronic delivery using VS technology requires that a plug-in (i.e., a small additional software module), named Myriad Music plug-in, is installed on your PC first. Then, you may opt for using either the on-line mode, that is convenient when you have a permanent connection to internet, or off-line mode, that is convenient when you have a non-permanent (e.g., dial-up) connection to internet. Music is played on the PC speaker or headphones (assuming, obviously, that your PC is equipped with such accessories and a sound card). Recording audio CDs is a little bit more complicated than using CMS, as it also requires to use an audio recording software. Please read the VS manual (available in the VS catalogue page) for details.

Electronic delivery using mp3 files is made upon request. For cost reasons, it is not possible to permanently store on web servers all the mp3 files of all the training aids available. The mp3 files are uploaded upon request and for a limited period of time as necessary for being downloaded according to the requests received.

Post delivery is made by shipping recorded audio CDs, using standard mail services. This is suitable for those people who are less familiar with PCs and they prefer not to record the CDs themselves.

With CMS, the audio files created are automatically grouped into "CD folders". The number and size of the files within each folder is such that each folder fits one audio CD of data (700 MB, 80 minutes). The total number of CDs that can be made for each work is also specified in the CMS catalogue page. Actually, some room is always left in the CDs, so that you may possibly add some "live" audio tracks extracted from commercial audio CDs. By doing so, you can also include the fourth practice level on the same CD (go to the home page for a description of the various practice level proposed). With VS, you have to create and group the audio files yourself.

Delivering audio cassettes instead of CDs is not normally foreseen. Audio cassettes may more easily be damaged during the transport, either mechanically or because of magnetic fields. It is recommended that post delivery is made using CDs, and then CDs are possibly recorded onto audio cassettes after reception.

CMS and VS are the standard delivery means available on-line. If the mp3 or post delivery options are preferred, you should contact us, and specify you wish mp3 delivery or CDs to be delivered by post. Please do not forget to specify whether you wish to receive mp3 files or CDs made with CMS, with VS, or both.

For mp3 or post delivery you are supposed to make a donation that covers, as a minimum, the costs for the web server space in the case of mp3 delivery, or the costs to reproduce and ship the CDs in the case of post delivery. The estimated cost amount will be provided to you in response to your request.
